The Curse of the Ancient Souls (2)

December 8th, 2008 by bennywoo

“Guys listen up!” exclaimed Willy excitedly in the pub, where Bobby, Harry and Yew Meng gathered every 2 to 3 days for the happy hour right after work. “What have you got this time eh? A new girlfriend?” taunted Harry. “No way man! Singapore girls are so materialistic, show them the money and they will come to you willingly. I got tired of them already.” said Willy. “In addition, a friend of mine got to know of this place in Thailand, where the girls there are pretty and down to earth, and they certainly do not mind us Singaporeans to visit them for, you know what haha” said Willy. “Why don’t we go to this place in Thailand for our trip this time? I think its the honour of the girls over there that we are paying them a visit haha” added Willy.

“You got to be kidding, who knows what that place is and is it really safe” said Bobby . “Don’t worry, my friend had been there before and trust me, he said he never felt so good before in his entire life!” exclaimed Willy. “Well, why not? then I mean its time for a break from all the hetic work!” added Harry. Yew Meng has no objection also. “3 against 1, Bobby. As usual, majority wins!” said Willy as they cheers for another round of beer.

Within a week, they booked the 4 days 3 nights trip to Thailand but their main objective was to travel to this remote village off the east coast of Thailand, a little island called Kombinnang. Upon reaching their destination, with directions from his friend, they engaged this tour guide called Lom Bam. Lom Bam is a 70 year old man who has been a tour guide for 45 years since he was a young man. He knew Thailand inside out. Upon knowing the 4 men wanted to go to Kombinnang, he shakes his head but promised to get them there safely by a small motor boat. “Please be careful over there young men. I know why you are there as many young men like you went before. However, please remember some rules there. First, please respect the girls over there. Although they are in this line, however, they still have their dignity. Secondly, always be polite to everyone in that island. Last but not least, be responsible for your own actions.” said Lom Bam seriously. Willy, Harry and Yew Meng causally agreed. Only Bobby seems to take the words seriously.

It was almost 8pm when they got there by boat. It was an hour’s boat ride from the main island. At the jetty it was dimly lited. However, as they approached, there was 2 pretty girls waiting for them. “Oh wow! This is what I called B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!” exclaimed Willy excitedly. The 2 pretty girls were the escorts that night, and they led the 4 men through some thick bushes and upon reaching a clearing, they were very surprised to see a elagant resort in front of them. Nice food and music were all around and every single girl dancing around the resort was a beauty. There were many men around as well, obviously enjoying themselves with the food and of course the girls.

Soon, Willy, Bobby, Harry and Yew Meng were immersed in the company of pretty girls, good food and music. They partied all night long till they were so exhausted and finally went back to their rooms for a rest. Willy was sure that a group of girls were eyeing him and his 3 friends all night long. He though to himself, “I must get them tomorrow night and enjoy ourselves!” Before long, the four of them were fast asleep.

When they woke up the next day, it was already 1pm. And the day was exactly five years ago…

Smoking

December 7th, 2008 by bennywoo

Why do people smoke when they know its bad for health blah blah blah…

If drugs were legal, will people go take drugs? Maybe yes, Maybe no because drugs are more deadly. Cigarette is less deadly because you will die slowly. Drugs makes you die faster. You get the point.

Why am I writing this post? Because there is someone below my room or above my room or to the left of my room that is smoking right now and as I am typing this post, I am inhaling the smoke. Freaking bastard, hope you die of lung cancer by the end of this week! Inconsiderate idiot.

The Curse of the Ancient Souls

November 23rd, 2008 by bennywoo

Recall the ending from the post Story Time: Part 6.

“Well, thank you Sir, for all the information, we will seek your corporation again if need be, hope you get a good gripe on yourself. I feel for your loss too.” said Bobby to Mike’s dad. “Time to write a report again, wonder what my heading will be this time” thought Bobby as he was driving back to the station. Another case closed and time for a little holiday he was yearning for the past year.

At this moment, Bobby’s handphone rang. “Hello?” answered Bobby. An air of silence hovered in Bobby’s car. He jammed brake in the middle of the expressway. Lucikly there wasn’t much cars around. Sweat broke out on Bobby’s forehead as he waited in the silence.”

Thirty seconds which seemed like eternity to Bobby passed as he listened to the call. The phone went dead right after the call. Regaining his composure, Bobby drove on and went home. His mind was wandering off and on throughout the night. Many times, he woke up in cold sweat. “It can’t be happening to me, 5 years had already passed” said Bobby to himself….

Bobby is thirty five years of age this year. Having exceled in his school days, he managed to study human pyschology and landed a job as a human pyschology expert in the police force. He chose to specialise in teenagers behaviour as he sees it as a catalyst for many crimes in the society. “Teenagers nowadays do not realise the consequences of their actions. Their actions are detrimental to the society and to themselves and before serious consequences set in, I have the task to help them” exclaimed Bobby to those who asked about his job. Through the years, he have seen it all. Mike’s and Laura’s case is not new to him.

Bobby likes to travel. He makes it a point to travel with his group of buddies every year. No matter how busy they are, they will schedule 7 to 14 days a year for travel. The group consists of Harry, Yew Meng and Willy. They met during the NS time and had since forged a very strong friendship. From Europe to US to Africa, they have been there. One common point between them is that they are all bachelors. Perhaps the world is fair afterall. All of them are professionals in their own fields. They have a good paying jobs and live an exciting life, but it seems that their fate with women has not been too good. Bobby loves his job and devote lots of time to it and in his spare time he goes travelling with his buddies. Harry is a top criminal lawyer and is very busy with his work and has no time for relationships. Yew Meng is the assistant director of the largest MNC in town and he basically slogs it out at work everyday and has little time for relaxation let alone relationships. Willy is in the entertainment industry, hosting events, tv shows and even dabble in a bit of acting. His good looks has captured the hearts of many, yet Willy is never a comitted man. He has countless girlfriends and sometimes more than 1 on a single occasion. Yet he never have to worry because all the girls come to him willingly.

It was 4am in the morning as Bobby sat up on his bed. “It has already been 5 long years and I guess this is my fate” said Bobby in a dejected voice. His eyes was fixed at a spot right in front of him. “Time has finally caught up with me” exclaimed Bobby, his eyes still fixed at a spot in front of him….

Song Lyrics

November 19th, 2008 by bennywoo

Been thinking about this for the past few days. I want to find out song lyrics which are interesting or meaningful or whatever. 1-2 lines the most and not all the lyrics.

If anyone can tell me the song titles of all the songs below, you will get a prize from me :p

1) “how can I be lost, if I got no where to go” - you will be lost if you cannot find a way to your destination. if you got no destination to begin with, how can you say you are lost? Interesting.

2) “its like heads they win, tails you gonna lose” - either way you lose. hope we don’t fall into such situations in real life.

3) “he married trouble and had a courtship with a gun” - cool description

4) “No limitation, a new inspiration, a world that is free just as free as my mind” - inspiring

5) “even the best fall down sometimes, even the wrong words seem to rhyme” - nothing is perfect in this world

6) “divided we’re standing, united we’ll fall” - what an negative statment

7) “If a man could be two places at one time, I’d be with you. Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.” - the lyrics is sweet! dead giveaway on the song title though haha

8 “give me a job, the one I haven’t got” - suggestive haha and rhymes too

9) “this silly game of love, you play you win, only to lose” - another negative statment

10) “I know you think that love is the way you make it, so I don’t wanna be there when you decide to break it” - believe in love always

Spring Cleaning Day

October 12th, 2008 by bennywoo

A well rested weekend. It has been a very long time since I have a long weekend. (Fri, Sat, Sun) Anyway I will be having long weekends almost every week from now till the end of the year. This is the result of not having time to clear leaves for this present year. Not to mention my 16days reservist coming very soon in November. oh well.

Managed to do some spring cleaning today. Just a couple of days ago, I cleared some old clothes. My wardrobe is getthing lesser and neater. I don’t have much clothes to begin with anyway. I was tidying the top part of my cupboard and I am surprised to see I still have so much University notes that I still keep. In an instance, I packed all up in a bundle and put it into a big plastic bag, ready to throw away. I think the notes are useless to me now anyway. haha

Afterwhich, I threw away some old PC hardware boxes, don’t know why I keep them for so long. However, I still have 3 old harddisk and 2 old cd roms. Wanted to scan or format the harddisk before I dispose of them. haha Do not want any Edison scandal :P I need to find a proper place to dispose of them. I believe there are some places which help dispose of computer parts. It is extremely harmful to the environment to dispose of such things as they contain lead I think.

Afterwhich, I rearrange my cupboard and save for a few changes in the arrangment, I think it looked the same, even after I threw away so many things. I should think my room is very neat and clean. That’s how I like my room to be. I don’t have many things to start with anyway.

Hmm, when I am in the mood again, I will throw away even more things! haha

MC day

September 23rd, 2008 by bennywoo

Friendster blog has changed! I think its about time. Now the interface is cleaner and brighter. And with a white background, that’s makes reading easier :)

Anyway woke up this morning not feeling too good so went to Bukit Gombak 24hr clinic to see a doc. Reached there, was told it would be a 2 hr wait! What the heck! I registered nonetheless and went home, telling myself I will be back in another 1 hour or so. What a waste of time.

Went home and checked the list of clinics under Parkway group and realised there is 1 clinic at railway mall, which is just opposite my house, a 5 mins walk! I went out again and went to this clinic, didn’t know there was a clinic at railway mall. haha. I thought it would be ulu but turns out there are around 5 people inside already. I still think it will be faster than the 2 hours I have to wait at Bukit Gombak clinic.  Thus, I waited for around 35mins but the time was well spent reading my reader’s digest which I brought there. Got my MC and went home to rest.

Basically slept through the whole afternoon till the heat became unbearable and I woke up. Was feeling groggy so just lied on my bed. After dinner, I cannot take it anymore so the air con was turned on. I sort of tidied my room and threw away some stuffs. Afterwhich, I counted my coins I collected and packed it nicely into various bags according to denominations to be given to my auntie, who owns a shop and the coins will come in handy. Of course, in exchange for cash. haha

Hope I will recover soon though. Its not often that I fall sick and I certainly don’t like the feeling. I also hope all of you out there will stay healthy always. But words with no actions is of no use. So eat healthy and start to exercise!

Remember 2 servings of fruits and veggies a day and plenty of fluids - Doctor Woo. hahaha

Near Misses

August 25th, 2008 by bennywoo

What are your near misses in life? In near misses, I mean near misses with death. I had my fair share of near misses in my life.

As a young boy, I was hyper active. Running and jumping around. When I was quite young, could not remember how young though, I was running around my grandma’s house. You know those 3 to 4 steps that leads to the door of a HDB flat. I jumped down the steps, missed and fell. My forehead at the left eyebrow level hit the edge of a metal tin placed on the side on the floor. Result: 7-8 stiches and a permanant scarring. My mum said I was almost blinded.

When I was in primary school, I lived in Taman Jurong. One night, I was at a stationary shop located at the 2nd level of some building. After I was done, instead of taking the stairs down, I walked to the side of the building and took a spiral walkway down. (for those handicapped). I still remembered. Less than 5 steps I took, a cold hard red brick fell in front of me and was smashed into pieces. I walked on. What if I walked slightly faster that night?

Secondary school time. Crossing the junction to my school at Clementi. As the green man appears, I am sure it was at least 3 seconds as I took my 1st step out of the road. A bus from the interchange came charging out and made a left turn. If I was in a rush, I would have quickly crossed the road once the green man came on. Oh well.

Stupid incident. I was sleeping one night. In the middle of the night, I had an urge to go to the toilet. I do not know why, I had a hard time dragging myself out of bed. As I walked in the darkness, I do not know why I was so tired. After taking a few steps and was near my bedroom door, I FELL ASLEEP! I remembered I was like KO. Switched off for 1 second and I fell down. My head hit the corner of the cupboard beside my bedroom door. That woke my parents and myself up. I was in pain and groaning, clutching my head. Damn painful I tell you. As my parents switched on the lights, I slowly took off my hand and check if there was any blood. And truly enough, like a scene straight out of the movies, my whole hand was DRENCHED in blood. I even saw a few drops of bloods dripped on the floor. Took me a while to clean up and apply medication. What if I fell and hit somewhere else or serious complication sets in?

Last year, I was driving along Bukit Batok one night. The road was quite deserted. Someone was with me, I do not remember who though. As I cruised through the road, that someone told me watch out as there was an Indian man jay walking across the road in the middle of nowhere. I remember telling that someone to relax, I saw him. In actual fact, I did not even notice cause you know, it was dark and he was an Indian. Period. Luckily he walked across quite quickly. It was only when I drove past that man that I realised what if I had driven faster or he had walked slowly across?

Somewhere last year or this year, I was in a bus home. Near my home already, I woke up from a sleep. Still in a sleepy mode and before I knew it, there was quite an impact hitting the bus 2 seats behind me and on the same side where I was sitting. The person beside me literally got thrown out of her seat. A car had smashed into the bus, another car followed suit. One of the car burst into flames at the front. There was smoke. People was rushing to get off the bus, fearing the flaming car beside it could explode anytime. They keep pushing one another including me. What if one person tripped and get trampled on? What if the flaming car really exploded?

One fine afternoon this year, I was driving home from Bukit Gombak. Just in front of the MRT station. There was some road works in the middle of the road, traffic was a bit slow. Red light at the crossing. People just starting to cross the road. I was slowing down nearing the traffic lights. As I saw a bus in front, and there was no cars at the right lane, I slowly filter to the right lane. I was very slow as I took my time. Out of nowhere, 2 kids cut in front of my car and from my observation, they are actually looking out for traffic before crossing! I had a shock of my life when they decided to cross even though I was moving slowly to the right lane. They dashed across in front of my car and if I had not braked fast enough, I would have hit them. They are trying to cross the road. Just a few more steps ahead, they can cross from the green man at the junction. I do not know why they can’t bother to cross safely. If I hit them, who’s fault will it be I wonder.

All the near misses for me may be nothing compared to what others have been through. I was thinking what if somehow a near miss becomes a hit? Either way, my life will be affected and I definitely do not want this to happen. There are still so many things in life to discover and enjoy.

A little sharing of the near misses I had. What’s yours?

Blue Monday

August 18th, 2008 by bennywoo

A blue start to the week today. Didn’t know what came over me this morning at work. Rarely do I feel that I am not able to handle the things that needs to be done. Today is the day I felt that.

Its hard to describe that feeling. When I thought about the things that I have to do, the things that need to be done and the things that have not been done, I was overwhelmed. I gave up. Momentarily.

Then I received an email from a friend. It came at the right time. A very long PDF file for reading. Those kind of motivational stuff we have heard countless times. I skimed half of it and this 2 particular statments makes sense, at least to me.

‘We are winners, not whiners’

‘Don’t take it personal, they are just part of the negativity that exists in the world’

Well, I thought about it and came to a conclusion that I am whining (about all the work) and taking it a little too personal for some things that affected my vision.

I took a deep breath and sorten out my thoughts. Things became better immediately. I hope this momemtum will continue to rise as the week goes by. :)

Thoughts

August 14th, 2008 by bennywoo

Sometimes I feel that if something bad or unpleasant happens to somebody around you, and you are not able to do anything to help, you will feel sad and bad.

Now think if it is not just somebody, but the people you really care about and you are not able to do anything to help, you will feel many times as sad and as bad.

To the people out there, its not the end of the world. When all things goes wrong, there are bound to be some rights. Say a prayer and let nature do the rest.

Get some sleep, relax and take many deep breaths. Tomorrow is another brand new day. Prepare for it well and you will be able to conquer it well.

My heart goes out to all the people I care about.

Whirlwind 3 days

July 28th, 2008 by bennywoo

It has been a whirlwind for the past 3 days. Back to reality today though. =_=

Finally get to go KTV with my collegues and ex-collegue last Fri. It was an enjoyable session with lots of photo taking going on and fooling around. haha Too bad my camera ran out of battery before I can even take much photos, but nevertheless, cams from two other friends more than made up for it :) Hope to have such sessions every now and then in the future!

Saturday morning managed to get up at 830am and took a cab for a soccer session at St Wilfred’s. Nice weather and a good workout. Pity took a knock on my thigh and the after effects were painful. So for the rest of the Saturday, I could not walk properly. haha slept through the afternoon and played some games, chatted on MSN and finally watched ch 8 movies till 2 am plus, pity I could not finish watching the ch 8 movie, seems quite nice, but my eyes made their own decisions and decided to shut.

Sun morning. Downtown East, Escape themepark at 11am.  Had a quick brunch at White Sands before I head on down there. 1st time I been there and quite dissapointing la, though I do not have much expectations in the 1st place. A total of THREE rides were under maintanance and at the end of the day, I was offered complimentary tickets to return again with a 3 mths validity. The Go Kart was quite fun and I think it was the best ride of all. The Inverter was cool too spinning you 360 degrees. However as the day goes by, I feel a bit dizzy by all the other rides which only goes spining round and round. Put me on a roller coaster and I will not feel dizzy. Its those rides that is not exiciting but only keep on spinning round and round that is making me dizzy.

Left the place at around 5pm and had dinner at the newly opened EHUB. There was a big ferris wheel inside the EHUB and at night, the lights are nice when viewed through the glass panels. Had dinner at BBQ Chicken restuarant, which serves chicken fried in olive oil. I still think KFC is nicer though. HAHAHA. Afterwhich, another long journey home and reached home at around 930pm. After watching my favorite show at the moment, pushing daisies, off to bed and prepared for another long week at work ahead!

The weekend come and go so fast this wkend. Hopefully this weekend, I get to have more rest :) Just watched Saw 4 on my computer on a Mon evening. Gosh, I am getting dizzy again!

Can’t believe this series never ends. Part 5 coming soon! But Escape Themepark, even with the complimentary tickets given to me, I will not be going back so soon again.
